With increased numbers of mothers leaving the workforce, now is the time to build and fortify a culture that attracts, encourages, and supports this critical community. This Mother’s Day let’s move from platitudes to policies; from appreciation to action. Together, we can bring dramatic change to the lives of millions of mothers – raising them up, just as they’ve done for us. Because Motherhood is... |

THE MOTHER OF ALL INSPIRATION
OUR PEOPLE
Horizon Media has a beautiful campaign to celebrate mother's day through the month of May. Motherhood is paradoxically the most challenging, and the most rewarding journeys that I have ever embarked on. After my son was born in 2016, I have juggled motherhood and my career goals. Some days I am a better mom, and some days I am a better Director and some days I am good at both and some days I am not. It's a universe in which I am constantly multi-tasking, improvising, learning, growing and adapting. My brain is fueled by the demand of being a working professional and a mom. I use so many skills that I have learnt in my corporate career to be a better mom - respect for other humans, patience, tolerance to opinions, problem solving and striving under pressure are all skills that I have learnt in my career that make me a better mom. Through the pandemic, he saw me work, and concluded that he wants to "work on the computer and become an engineer" like his mom and dad. It wasn't easy to work with a 4 year old at home in 2020, but I love that we were able to inspire him and he was able to see how hard his parents work. Being a mom is relentless, there are no breaks and there is no walking away from your task - this prepares me to become a relentless problem solver at work, and inspires me to persevere through tough situations. I encounter many situations in motherhood and at my workplace that require me to improvise and strategize, and the transformative ability of these skills has been a very satisfying experience. My son's pure innocence, his smile, and his warm hugs are the biggest stress buster that I could ever ask for - he drives me to do better every day in all aspects of life. My family goals inspire my career goals. Contrary to popular belief that becoming a mom can restrict your career, I believe that it has given me wings to fly, with the cutest cheerleader I could've asked for.
